1 individual petition (the prisoner) on behalf of Samuel Russell, lately a private in the West Suffolk Militia convicted at Bristol Quarter Sessions in 1822 of stealing fifteen pounds of feathers from his bed in his lodging. Letters confirming prisoner's good conduct and covering letter forwarding petition. Grounds for clemency: alleged crime took place in a public house generally filled by tenants of a low description. Prisoner served for nine years in the West Suffolk militia. Honest man. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: Nil. MH38
