1 individual petition (prisoner) and 66 character witnesses on behalf of Ann Smith servant convicted at Somerset Quarter Session Taunton in October 1829 of stealing money. Grounds for clemency: a man and a woman stole a watch and handed it to prisoner then ran away, she was too far from her home to get character witnesses at her trial. Initial sentence: 14 years' transportation. Gaoler's report: character good as far as known. Annotated: nil. KO52
