Folios 215-217. Letter from Richard Michell Hodge, Clerk to the Guardians of the Truro Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, enclosing for approval the appointment form for W George Edward George as Relieving Officer for the Roseland district. Signed by R M Hodge, Clerk and George Edward George, officer appointed. The form shows George Edward George, now of St Just, had been a farmer. Duties commence from 9 January 1844 at a salary to be £90 per annum. He is responsible for St Anthony, Cornelly, Cuby, Gerrans, St Just, Lamorran, Ladock, Merther, St Michael Penkivell, Philleigh, Probus, Ruanlanyhorne, Tregony and Veryan in the Roseland district. The post became vacant after the death of the late relieving officer. Two sureties, the Reverend Henry Tremayne and [Rodd I Gerrans], to enter into a bond in the sum of £200. Annotated: by E C T [Edward C Tufnell, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], to approve. Paper Number: 1583/A/1844. Poor Law Union Number 57. Counties: Cornwall.
