Folios 115-116. Letter from Joseph Lowndes, Clerk to the Guardians of the Wolstanton and Burslem Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, acknowledges Poor Law Commission approval for appointments noted in letter 'Number 41190' Paper number: 41190/C/1838] of 21 April and reports names of master and matron of Wolstanton Workhouse as Elias Barlow and wife Hannah Barlow, he being Relieving Officer on £120 per annum and both on maintenance at the workhouse. Samuel Broster is Workhouse Master at Burslem Workhouse on £44s 10s per annum with maintenance for himself and family (one son one daughter) at the workhouse. Annotated: approved by Thomas Stevens [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner]. Paper number: 4634/C/1838. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
