Description
Content
Folios 94-95. Draft letter from Thomas Stevens, [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] to Edward Wood, Wolstanton, in response to memorial from Wolstanton 1965/C explaining that the Commission is anxious to make arrangements which accord with the wishes of all the parishes to be united, but when conflicting opinions are presented the Commission must decide what is best for all. The Commission does not accept the argument that there is no harmony of interests between Burslem and Wolstanton for the guardians will have a common duty to both, and the ratepayers can be relied upon to cordially cooperate in the implementation of the new arrangements. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
