Description
Content
Folio 74. Draft letter from Poor Law Commission, signed by Thomas Stevens, [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], to Joseph Lowndes, Vestry Clerk. Wolstanton, headed 'Suggested answer in reply to' Paper number: 11243/C/1837 of 20 December 1837. The Commissioners note that the memorialists approve the regulations as applied to other parishes but do not offer sufficient reasons for Wolstanton to be an exception and to remain un-united. The Commissioners believe that the same good results which are to be seen in Stoke upon Trent will be observed in the union of Newcastle, Wolstanton and Burslem as their two populations are nearly equal. Paper number: 11243/C/1837. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
