Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. Lieutenant Bonee's accounts for the time he was employed in the Arcturus Tender and raising men under the command of Captains Johnstone and Falconer, have been objected to because of a charge for his own subsistance following the time he commanded the tender. He had no orders to command the tender of for putting himself under the directions of Captains Falconer and Johnstone, so his accounts could not be passed without a particular Admiralty order. Lieutenant Bruce has sworn the truth of all the disbursements which is certified by the Captains so opine the whole can be allowed except for the amount for his own subsistance for the tender for which he should apply to the Commissioners for Victualling. The travelling charges from London to Leith, when he was sent to Command the Prince of Wales Cutter, will require an Admiralty order
