Description

Messrs. W. Chesleden and W. Pyle of the Surgeons' Company say the anonymous author's assertions are so contrary to their experience that they have asked the opinions of several sea surgeons who confirm that what he has written is untrue. Chesledon and Pyle say that as the College of Physicians have recommended the issue of the elixir, their view should be accepted. A list of 45 Surgeons' names and the ships on which they served giving their experience of the use of the elixir without dates.
