Folios 163A-163B. A letter from J W Lockhart, of Romsey, [Hampshire], reporting back on his travels through the surrounding counties. He informs that he has travelled through Farringdon, Newbury, [Berkshire], Marlborough, Hungerford, Devizes and Salisbury, [all Wiltshire], and found that most have generally made, and carried out, preparations in case of further uprisings. He adds, however, that it is the presence of the cavalry, military and the yeomanry that has contributed mostly to the capture of incendiaries. He notes that one of those captured at Devizes is being kept in solitary confinement. He continues by adding that he has met magistrates for Wiltshire and Berkshire at Hungerford and at Devizes, and all speak highly of the [------] at Marlborough, and the Devizes yeomanry.
