Edward Bate of Maids Morton co. Bucks Esq. and Penelope his wife, one of the daughters and coheirs of Robert Lovett late of Liscombe, Solbury, co. Bucks, Esq. and Lettice Piggott of Doddershall co. Bucks widow, the other daughter (administrices of his will) TO William Taylor of Shrewsbury esq. and Methusalem Jones of Kanderdale gentleman.
Consideration:- £1,200 due to Edward Bate and 5s. each to Penelope Bate and Lettice Piggott as administrators of the estate of John Lovett on failure of his appointed executors (his brothers Edward and Lawrence Lovett)
Release and covenant to levy a fine on property mortgaged 23 May 1654. Sir Vincent Corbett knight TO Henry Lucas of St. Martin's in the Feilds esq. and Thomas Fane of the same Esq., with agreement for reconveyance in case of repayment of £848 dated 18 July 1656 Henry Lucas TO Sir Vincent Corbett.
A surcharge of £400 was added to the mortgage and £800 paid to Lucas's executors by enrolled bargain and sale of 3 June 1665 Thomas Fane of Buston co Kent Esq. Robert Raworth of Grayes Inne Esq. and Thomas Buck of Cambridge Esq. (executors of will of Henry Lucas dated 11 June 1663) and Sir Vincent Corbett bart. (son and heir of Sir Vincent Corbett deceased) TO Robert Lovett of Liscombe in the parish of Solbury, co. Bucks, Esq. and this £2,200 was acknowledged by Lovett to belong to Edward Bate (£1000), William Butterfeild of Middle Cleydon co. Bucks (£100, since repaid by Bate), and Susanna Lovett (£100, since repaid by Bate) by deed of 4 March 1691 1. Robert Lovett 2. Edward Bate 3. William Butterfeild 4. John Lovett of Dublin merchant and Susanna his wife.
The mortgaged property consisted of:
A capital messuage in which Dame Elizabeth Corbett widow, (mother of Sir Vincent Corbett the elder dwelt) in Acton Reyner and the demesne land, the Hamstock (2 closes), Yew Pitts, the Griggy Peice, the Coate Leasow adjoining the Lea, Moretons Lea (wood) and coppy, Acton Lea (wood) and land under the Lea, the Lea meadow, the Hatch Yate, the Shabury Way alias Shawbury Hedge, the Withy meadow, the Higher Boore Pitts, Middle Boore Pitts, the Boor Pitte under the Coppy, the Round meadowe, the Marle leasow and croft, the Broomy leasow and croft, by the Carthouse furlong, and another croft, tithes of grain etc. and courts baron, all in the parish of Shawbury.
