Cheney Longville ("Hopkis tenement" - Bright family)

1. Robert Hows of Lidbury North gentleman on behalf of Francis Plowden esq.

2. Rowland Bright of Mindtowne yeoman.

Cons: money and conditions.

Articles of agreement for sale of a tenement in Longville called Hopkis tenement and lands belongings to it, now enjoyed by Mary Bright widow or undertenants; 1 messuage in Longville and lands belonging to it now enjoyed by Rowland Moyle or undertanants; 1 messuage in Longville etc. (John Cooke) reserving any property which Mary Bright, Rowland Moyle and John Cooke have by grant of Robert Hows as part of the castle or farm of Longvill and not usually let with these tenements and also except liberty to set up any stall or standing at Longvill fayre time in or upon the waste ground belonging to the manor or farm of Longville and except rents due for the premises before 25 March next, the premises to be held by fealty suit of court and 5s. 8d. yearly, and 5/8 relief on every death or alienation. Bright covenants to pay £326 for the premises and also £9 to Mrs. Katherine Plowden wife of Francis Plowden (£163 before the sealing of the conveyance and the £9, and on 1 Nov. next £163 more to be secured by lease or assurance as Hows thinks fit in the meantime) the money to be paid at Plowden Hall. Covenant that Bright shall on How's request give a sufficient release of a messuage (late Charles Edwards or undertenants) to such person or persons as shall purchase the same, and defray conveyancing charges. In the conveyance no trustee oriessee of Francis Plowden shall be required to covenant further or otherwise than against himself and his own acts and Francis Plowden to covenant against himself and his trustees and ancestors' acts; if any difference shall arise concerning the conveyance which cannot be reconciled by Counsel, on both sides, then neither party to be bound by this agreement but the bargain to be void, Mary Bright and Rowland Moyle shall enjoy the premises now in their occupations according to the grants of them made by Robert Hows either to them or to William Bright decd, and John Cooke shall enjoy the premises now in his occupation for the term of years which he had by lease at £7 rent.
