Poems of Fr Shrive (1896-1987) and related papers, with some biographical information, including details regarding his service in the First World War and resulting injuries. He entered SSJE initially as a lay brother, serving in South Africa (St Cuthbert's Mission), and was later ordained priest.

Francis Gordon Shrive, son of Frederick and Elizabeth, born 19 Jan 1896 (Middleton, Northants.) (census 1901, TNA RG/13/1450/6/3). Died 1987 (Leicester) (England and Wales deaths 1837-2007 transcription). Information from the Imperial War Museum indicates that his army record was destroyed during the Blitz. Transcripts of his medal record state that he was discharged due to wounds in June 1917 (ref: TNA WO/372/18/56952). The medal roll index card does not state which battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment he was in.

- Fr Shrive's poems were published as 'True Man A Long Season: The poems of Gordon Shrive SSJE', edited by Mark Woodruff (Fellowship of St John (UK) Trust Association, 2016) [Lambeth Palace Library H5193.2J6]. Another copy was given to the Imperial War Museum (LBY 17/599).
