Description
Petitioners
Henry Bodrugan, knight.
Name(s)
Bodrugan, Henry
Addressees
Council of the prince.
Nature of request
Bodrugan states that he held the manors of Restronguet, Tremodret and Trevellion from the prince as of his duchy of Cornwall by the services of six and a half knight's fees, and that Vaughan and others recovered the same by writ of right quando dominus remisit curiam suam regi before the justices of the king at Westminster against Bodrugan and Margaret his wife in trust to Bodrugan and his wife and their heirs. Afterwards Allington and Twinhoe came into the county and Allington said to the petitioner that he ought to do homage to the prince for the manors to which Bodrugan answered that he had done homage after the recovery, upon which Allington said that he should pay a relief on the manors and commanded Fogge to distrain the supplicant and that they were held for fifteen knight's fees though they were not and no relief was owing, however, Bodrugan bound himself to the prince in a certain sum trusting that he would be discharged once the premises were examined. Bodrugan requests that the matter having been considered that no relief is due in the county but on a descent or a feoffment, and that no feoffment was made by the petitioner of any part of the manors, or any part of the ground to him by descent whereby any releif should be due to the prince; and that the manors are held of 6½ knight's fees only as appears by the feodors of the prince; and that the petitioner made the obligation in trust in his mind to be ruled by the wisdom of the council according to conscience on the premises to command his attorney to cease any further process to be sued on the obligation to the petitioner.
