- [This petition is fragmentary] . . . community of Southampton [state] that whereas the king by his charter granted . . . of the said town is impleaded or another impleads him concerning tenements which are within the . . . within the same franchise, to which trespass anyone of the said community is party and . . . of that same franchise and not by foreign people if the matter does not concern . . . several who claim to have right in various tenements within the same franchise . . . which they purchase . . . they have put in their writ together . . . allowed before the justices of our [lord the king] . . . please him and his council against . . . their franchises . . .
