- Nature of request
- Ramfre de Monpesat, son of Raymond Bernard, Lord of the castle and town of Montpezat, makes two requests:1) He states that Thomas Larcediakene, Seneschal of the Agenais for the king's father, ordered his father to deliver up his castle in the king's name, promising him that it would be returned; and he did so. Raymond Bernard then died, and the King of France's people, when Charles, Count of Valois, came to Gascony, occupied the castle and town and destroyed the castle; and they still hold the castle and land. He asks that the King of France might be ordered to return the castle and town, with their appurtenances, and that compensation might be given for the destruction of the castle and other losses and damages, as he has received no compensation, and he is a child and has done nothing to deserve disinheritance.2) He states that, because the King of France withholds his lands and rents, he has nothing from which to maintain his estate or his companions. In compensation for this, he requests £300 sterling from the toll (peage) of Saint-Macaire, until he has returned his lands to him.
