Nature of request
Sansaner de Podings, William Arnold de Podings, and Bidau, their brother, make two requests: 1) They state that they have been in the king's service throughout the war and the truce, and that the king owes them a certain sum of money for their wages. They ask that they might have payment or allowance in the bailiwick of Lalinde in Perigord, which is presently held by William Arnold de Podings, and that the arrears that he owes for this bailiwick might be allowed to him in payment. 2) They state that all their castles, mills, vines, orchards and lands have been burnt and destroyed, to the sum of 600 marks. They request compensation.
Nature of endorsement
The Constable of Bordeaux is to be ordered that what he owes is to be allowed against what the king owes him. With regard to the other petitions, it is answered by another petition.
Note
A note at the beginning of this file, signed R. L. Atkinson and dated 9 March 1932, states, 'Nos 14511-50 and 14551-80 in the next file appear to form an original file, or at any rate a conjunction of some duration. Such as can be dated appear to belong to the year 1305, or thereabouts, so the remainder may provisionally be regarded as belonging to this date'. This petition has therefore given a provisional date of 1305. This would agree with SC 8/292/14552, another petition from the same petitioners, which is from this year.
