Daumary requests remedy as sheriffs of the county used to collect annually rents called 'hidage' and 'wartshelver' from certain vills of the earl of Lancaster in aid of their farm, but the late king enfranchised them so that the sheriff cannot enter them to collect the rent, and the earl's bailiffs collect the rent to the earl's use, and the sheriff cannot have allowance for this from the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer.

The petition is dated to c. 1311 as the petitioner held the office of sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire until February 1311 (List of Sheriffs, p. 107). In addition, an order to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to discharge the petitioner of a certain sum, though not perhaps the sum mentioned in the petition dates to 10 July 1311 (CCR 1307-13, p. 365).
