Nature of request
Almaine requests that the sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire be commanded to release the earl of the £20 demanded from him, and that he have quittance, as he had respite of debts and reliefs by a demand issued out of the Exchequer, by which the sheriff distrained him grievously to have his body at the Exchequer to make fine for the relief.Copy of a writ of Edward I to the sheriff of Oxfordshire and Berkshire reciting that the sheriff had been commanded to make the distraint to have the petitioner at Westminster, and commanding the sheriff to make respite to the petitioner until Easter next.
