Nature of request
John and Margaret de Sutton request remedy because the Despensers kept John imprisoned at Westminster on the pretence that he had been an adherent of the Earl of Lancaster, until he made the younger Despenser a charter of feoffment of the castle and town of Dudley and the manors of Sedgley, Kingswinford, Rowley Somery, Prestwood, Dinas Powys and Eakring, and enfeoffed to Ingham the castle of Shocklach and lordship of Malpas, to Croyser 60s rent in Denton, and to Waukelyn the manor of Ashton.
Nature of endorsement
Certain men should be assigned in Chancery to enquire of the people of the region concerning the imprisonment, the charter and deeds made, the manors, the time and reason. And the charters, deeds and other necessary items should be returned in Chancery and the King certified.
