Nature of request
John and Margaret de Sutton request that they be restored to the town of Dudley, in the king's hands following the death of Hugh le Despenser. They held Dudley of the inheritance of Margaret, but Despenser, wanting to seize the town, accused John of being an adherent of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, for which he was summoned to Westminster and forced to hand the town over to him, issuing letters patent to Alveston to deliver seisin.

Assign faithful men in chancery to enquire etc., and return the inquest into chancery and certify the king.
