Date

Description
Petitioners
? No Petitioner named
Nature of request
Letter to the Chancellor, Treasurer and Keeper of the Privy Seal from Lord Latimer, enclosing a petition from Nicholas Russell, merchant of Florence, concerning the ship of certain companions of his which has been arrested at Bristol, because the keeper of that ship drowned himself during an illness, and asking that the ship might be released, as seems to him to be right.
Nature of endorsement
To the honoured lords the Chancellor, Treasurer and Keeper of the Privy Seal.
Places mentioned
Florence, [Italy]
Bordeaux, [Guyenne, France]
Bristol
Dover, [Kent].
People mentioned
Chancellor of England
Treasurer of England
Keeper of the Privy Seal
William [le Latimer], Lord Latimer, [Chamberlain of England]
Nicholas Russell, merchant of Florence
people of Bristol.
Note
Letter dated at Dover, on Monday, 30 April, which allows a date of 1341, 1347, 1352, 1358, 1369, 1375 or 1380. 1380 is unlikely as the other petitions in this file seem to date from the reign of Edward III, and 1341, 1347, 1352 and 1358 are all rather early for the hand, which leaves 1369 and 1375 as possible dates, which would agree with the appointment of Lord Latimer as Chamberlain.
