Addressees

Nature of request
Richard atte Wode and Lettice Bilk state that because Lettice sued a writ of trespass against John Radyngg, because he had falsely indicted her for robbery - of which she was acquitted - John sued against her falsely by collusion and by way of Holy Church, and had her excommunicated, and arrested and imprisoned in Newgate gaol by a significavit. Richard atte Wode then sued to the Bishop of London to absolve her, but in the meantime John procured a Margery de Beverlee to sue an appeal against Richard and Lettice for the death of her husband in Beverley, although they have never been there, and they are imprisoned in Newgate for this reason, at the King's suit.
