Nature of request
Writ from Richard II to the sheriff of Devon, enclosing a petition from William Bremelham of Exeter, barber, and asking him to do full justice to the petitioner, and, if it is appropriate, to release William on bail to appear before the King and council at the quindene of Michaelmas to answer the accusations of John Talbot and his companions, collectors of the subsidy granted in the last parliament, and to stand to right on this matter, informing the King in Chancery of the names of William's mainpernors and of his actions in this matter.
Nature of endorsement
This writ was delivered to William Bremelham of Exeter, barber, in the King's gaol of Exeter by the warrant of John Talbot, one of the collectors in the county of Devon of the subsidy granted to the King in the last parliament. And the aforesaid William found sufficient mainpernors, namely Thomas Blaumfeld, Thomas Rainaud, Ralph Sachevelle and John Sepelston, to answer both to the king and his council and to the aforesaid John Talbot and his colleagues, collectors of the aforesaid subsidy on all and each of the matters contained in this writ, according to the tenor of this writ.John Fitz Payn, sheriff.
