Nature of request
Peter, son of Peter de Boxstede, requests a writ to the Escheator of Essex and Suffolk to re-seize into the King's hand all the tenements of which Peter died seised in Clopton in Suffolk, and in Alphamstone, Lamarsh, and Pebmarsh, Essex, because Peter held of the King as of the crown in Suffolk, and wardship therefore belongs to the King. He also asks that the rolls of Chancery might be searched to find out the date of the writ sent to Margaret, Peter's wife, to produce Peter's charters.

[On face, continuing on dorse] Peter de Boxstede requests a writ for the King to the escheator of Essex and Suffolk to inquire more fully into the lands and tenements which belonged to Peter de Boxstede, father of the said Peter, on the day when he died, the wardship of which belongs to our lord the King, . . . . held, by reason of tenements held by Peter in Clopton in the county of Suffolk in chief of the King as of the crown by homage, scutage and 2s annually, of which the King . . . and the court . . . of his by the first inquisitions.

CCR 1323-7 p.286 is dated 14 April 1325 and seems to be earlier than the petition as it lists only Boxted as being held of the King; p.287 is dated 19 April 1325.CFR 1319-27 p.349 is dated 20 June 1325.
