- Nature of request
- The consuls of the bastide of Nicole make seventeen claims of wrongs done to them by Aymer de Roninhano and his parceners, claiming that they have appropriated to themselves jurisdiction over certain places, which belong to them, on behalf of the king, and to the abbot of Clairac, and ask that they might be ordered to desist from this behaviour, and that they and the abbot might have their jurisdiction back, with damages and interest. And they are prepared to inform the court of the actions of Aymer and his parceners by a public instrument. They also state that Aymer and his parceners have expelled them from a certain 'excamle' in the River Garonne, and from various parishes; that he and his people have committed various robberies against individual citizens of Nicole; that he and his parceners attack and rob shepherds guarding their animals around Nicole, and imprison them until they have extorted money from them; that when the Bailiff of Nicole captured and imprisoned Artigon, a servant of Aymer De Roninhano, for a crime he had committed, Aymer came with 20 armed men from Tonneins and freed him, and took the servant who was guarding him and imprisoned and robbed him; that when Aymer finds burgesses of Nicole at Tonneins, he arrests them and forces them to pay him wrongful tolls; and that he drives off their animals, so that the burgesses are now afraid to leave the bastide or go about their business for fear of Aymer.
