Nature of request
The King's liege people of Ireland state that the justices of assizes are allowing lords to claim wardship of the lands of deceased tenants who held by homage and by certain services, or by certain services, although in the time of Edward I it was established that such wardship should be granted only when the tenant had held by knight service. They request a writ to the justices not to allow this to happen in future, or that some other suitable remedy might be ordained.
Nature of endorsement
[Largely illegible, only a few words visible towards the end] . . . process that judgment was rendered contrary to the said usage . . . a writ is to be sent to the justiciar . . . in the said case he is to have the law of England hold . . .
