Nature of request
The people of Northamptonshire complain that when they buy agricultural implements at the market in Northampton and take them out of the town the collector of fees from transporting goods on forest roads for the Forest of Rockingham (weywodereve) attaches them to appear at the next swain-moot if they do not make fine with him at his pleasure. They request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
A writ of Chancery is to be sent to Hugh le Despenser, Justice of the Forest, to inquire more fully into the truth of the contents of the petition; and he is to have those whom he finds guilty imprisoned until the King has spoken his will concerning them.
