France: Brest. Map showing a proposed attack on ships in the harbour, using balloons carrying inflammable liquids launched from British warships. Reference notes. Drawn by Charles Rogier, inventor, Chelsea. A note states: 'The above stated Plan (in the opinion of Scientific Men) may be performed by Clock-work or by Aeronauts, and cannot fail in its operation, if carefully Executed'. The suggested date is taken from the War Office map docket book (which was the original means of reference to the War Office maps).
