Russian Empire: Crimea (now part of Ukraine): Sebastopol (Sevastopol'). Two maps: (27) showing the harbour, contours, roads and fortifications; (28) showing British, French and Russian defence works. Reference table to item (28). Scale: (27) 1:12,644; (28) 1:16,950. Both items copied from maps found on a Russian prisoner of war in 1855, and forwarded by Colonel de Waubert to the French Minister of War on 25 September 1855; item (28) (signed): A C Blondel, [Director, Dépôt de la Guerre]; these copies traced at the [French] Dépôt de la Guerre; sent to Lieutenant Colonel Jervis by order of Jean-Baptiste Philibert, Comte Vaillant, French Minister of War. Dimensions of sheets: (27) 43 cm x 63 cm; (28) 46 cm x 64 cm.
