de Veer (Vere), Robert
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Robert de Veer states that his lands and tenements in Great Tew were seized into the King's hand by John Walewayn, then his escheator, supposing that these lands were held in chief of the King and alienated without his permission. Robert sued to parliament at York and showed by the deed of King Henry, which he is ready to show again, that the lands were not held in chief of the King; and the escheator was ordered to return the lands to him, which he could not do because they had come into the Queen's hand: and so they have remained in her hand for ten years and more. He asks that he might have his lands back together with [the issues in the meantime].
Nature of endorsement
He is to show his charter and what was done in the parliament at York.Afterwards this petition is put before the Queen. This petition was read before the Queen's privy council and it seems that the land contained in the petition should be restored.
