Date
[c. 1316]
Description
Petitioners
Boydin Dauros (Auros), brother of the late William Arnold (Guilhem Arnaud) Dauros, and William Arnold (Guilhem Arnaud) Dauros (Auros), his uncle.
Name(s)
Dauros (Auros); Dauros (Auros), Boydin; William Arnold (Guilhem Arnaud)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Boydin Dauros, brother of the late William Arnold Dauros, and William Arnold Dauros, his uncle, make two requests:1) They state that although the King has often ordered the Seneschal of Gascony and the Constable of Bordeaux, and their lieutenants, to deliver the office of provost of Entre-deux-mers to William Arnold Dauros, they have refused to do so. They ask the King to send his letters patent to the Seneschal and Constable, and to their lieutenants, to deliver this office to William Arnold Dauros without delay, to hold at pleasure.2) They state that the King has ordered the Seneschal of Gascony to inform him of the truth on the matter of certain wrongs done to them by John de Havering, when he was Seneschal of Gascony, concerning the parishes of Berthes, Font Dosse, Pomiers and Labarthe, which parishes, and the rights of justice there, belonged to them and to the castle of Auros. But the Seneschal has refused to do this, so they ask that the Seneschal for the time being, or his lieutenant, might be ordered to inquire into the truth without delay and to inform the King of what he finds, so that he can do justice; or that he might be ordered that, if he finds that they and their ancestors have had these things, he should restore them to them as they were held before.
Nature of endorsement
The Seneschal of Gascony is to be ordered again as before, or that he is to explain his reason.
