Nature of request
The tenants and the people of the surrounding countryside request an inquisition to Haukeston and the sheriff to enquire of the wrongs of Thedmersh who took hay, oats and litter from them for the king's horses without payment, and of other excesses. They also request that Thedmersh's executors are not pardoned until the matter has been examined and satisfaction has been made to the king and them.

The petition dates to 1348 as a commission was issued into the matter on 23 April 1348, though, strangely the letter of the secret seal with which the petition was enclosed is dated to 19 May presumably in the same year (CPR 1348-50, p.83; C 81/1331/19).
