Sir Edward Gregory, Commissioner, Chatham. Receipt of letter, directions have been given to Sheerness officers about the Blaze fireship for a voyage to the West Indies. Captain Holmes of the Ruby will harm his ship if he takes in the Newcastle's stores, so he has asked Sheerness if there is a merchantman bound for Barbados which could take the stores and those for the Virgin Prize, but the vessel with the latter's stores sailed, and in the meantime Captain Holmes resolved to take them in, but what about the Dolphin. He notes that Mr. Hayes has been given three months' notice to end his contact and, if he is still in London, please to send him here. The Vanguard and Katherine sailed to Blackstakes on the 27th, the Dorsetshire from Gillingham on the 28th, yesterday the Duchess and Sandwich were undocked and today the Albemarle is undocked and the Edgar docked. A ship to take stores for the 4th rate building at Hull has arrived.
