Description

(1) 'N o VI'; 'Alderney. Plan for projected Breakwaters in Braye Bay and Port Longy referred to in M r Walker's report dated 8 th October 1844': showing fortifications and soundings. Reference note on tides. Approximate scale: 1 inch to 550 feet [1:6600]. Compass stars. (Signed) J s Walker. Annotated in red ink: 'Note. The dotted Red Lines show the suggested addition according to Plan received with the Board's Letter, dated 30 Oct r 1846 a/1361'. (4) Similar version of (1); with MS additions and reference table showing proposed works on the Essex estate. Annotated: 'To accompany my letter to the Inspector General of Fortifications, dated Guernsey 11 January 1847'; signed by Lieutenant Colonel W C Ward, Commanding Royal Engineer. Dimensions: (1) 45 cm x 71 cm; (4) 44.5 cm x 73.8 cm.
