Nature of request

John Moriz and John de Troye state that they have shown their credentials to the council, as they were charged in Ireland, and request execution as the council has agreed.1) They ask that no franchises, serjeanties, bailiwicks, lands or farms in the King's hand might be granted until the King and council are informed by his court in Ireland of why they were in the King's hand.2) They state that many people in Ireland are outlawed for treasons and felonies and come to England seeking charters of pardon, and ask that no such charters might be granted until they have information from Ireland about the reason for the outlawry and what manner of people they are.3) To preserve the King's peace, they request a writ to the Justice of Ireland to make proclamation throughout the land that no marriage should take place between English and Irish persons, as has happened hitherto.

Nature of endorsement

[On face, to first] It pleases the King that no franchise, serjeanty, bailiwick, land or farm should henceforth be granted before he has been informed by certification of his council in Ireland of how much it is worth; and if any grant has been made in any other manner it is to be annulled.[To second] The King has ordered that no such charter should henceforth be granted before he knows the cause. [This next sentence seems to have been deleted] And if any etc., as above. [To third] It pleases the King that a writ should be issued to make proclamation that there should henceforth be no marriage between English and Irish without especial permission from the King or from the Justice.[None on dorse]
