[This petition is damaged] Nicholas de Wellebourn, clerk, states that he was wrongly expelled from the church of Whitburn in the Bishopric of Durham by one John de Snaynton, but them recovered the church, and purchased a writ of the King to the Bishop of Durham to protect him in it. Nevertheless, John has several times threatened his possession of the church with force and arms, but the Bishop and his ministers have refused to arrest or attach him. By the maintenance of Michael de Harcla, he has also procured false suits against him, without his knowledge, attacked him and his people, and threatened his advocate. He requests a remedy.

Formerly enclosed in CCW 1244-1326 p.584, which is dated 24 November, and tentatively dated to 1318. It could however also date from 1319.CCR 1313-18 p.471 is dated 18 May 1317, and p.483 is dated 16 June 1317.CPR 1313-17 p.556 is dated 23 October 1316.
