Nature of request
William Germain of Guernsey states that the ancient customs of Guernsey are such that if a man abjures the island for any reason and the King gives him his peace within a year and a day, then his lands and tenements are to be returned to him. Therefore, as the King has given him his grace and peace within a year and a day of his having abjured the island, he asks for a writ to the Bailiff or to the Lieutenant, Otto de Gransoun, that, if the custom is so, his lands and tenements are to be returned to him.
