Nature of request
Letter to Edward III from [the Prior of] Barnwell in response to a letter asking for John, son of Robert de Hatefeld, to be given a pension at Barnwell until a suitable benefice could be found for him, by reason of the new creation of the Prior, stating that as part of the terms on which Edward I acquired the right of patronage of Barnwell from Gilbert Pecche they should be free of all such obligations, and asking him to excuse them from this one.
