Reference
SC 8/202/10073
Date
[? c. 1316]
Description
Petitioners
Adam de Everyngham.
Name(s)
de Everyngham, Adam
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Adam de Everyngham states that he had delivered a bill into parliament concerning the bailiwick of Sherwood Forest, and it was answered that he was to sue a writ to the Treasurer and Chamberlains to have the rolls of William de Vescy, of the eyre of the Forest of Nottingham, searched, to inform the King on the record and process, and into the reason for the taking of the bailiwick into the King's hand; and this record and process were returned to Chancery under the seal of the Exchequer at Adam's suit, according to the form of the writ. He asks the King and council to hear and determine the record and process of the bill, according to what he can show by his muniments, so that he is not wrongly disinherited or forejudged of his right.
Nature of endorsement
This petition is to be delivered to Chancery, and the record and process returned on this in Chancery at the last parliament in London are to be examined.
Places mentioned
Sherwood Forest, [Nottinghamshire]
Nottingham, [Nottinghamshire]
London.
People mentioned
William de Vescy.
Note
The petition enrolled on the roll of the parliament of January 1315 (Rot. Parl. vol. I p.314b (no.106)) seems to be earlier than this one. It mentions a London parliament: but the January 1315 parliament was held at Westminster, and the previous London parliament was in August 1311, which seems rather too early.
