Nature of request
Emma, widow of Andrew de Dinesleie, states that in the King's second year, when she was at Westminster for her husband's burial, Adam de Strattone sent his brother John, John de Polhey, John de Holebroc and others to her house at Little Sampford in Essex, where they broke in and stole her goods. Adam then returned with the aforesaid people, the Sheriff and his bailiffs in the following August, and they took her corn and other goods; and every year since then they have taken the profits of her lands. She requests justice.

Note
Dated on the guard to c. 1274, with reference to events in 2 Edward I (20 November 1273-19 November 1274) and to Adam de Stratton. But the petition would seem to suggest that some years have passed since 2 Edward I. Walter de Essex was Sheriff of Essex between January 1271 and October 1274.
