Nature of request
Dominjon de Fraunce and Andrew his brother, born at Bayonne, state that four ships of Normandy attacked a ship of theirs off le Havre in time of peace, killed those on board, including their brother and three other kinsmen, and carried off their goods and merchandise. Afterwards, war broke out between the people of Bayonne and the people of Normandy, and peace was concluded on the basis that all damages on one side and the other were to be pardoned: and their damages, which were suffered in time of peace before the war, were forgotten. Now that a truce has been agreed between the Kings of England and France, to last for fifty years, they ask the King to order the Mayor and jurats of Bayonne to ordain for compensation for them.
