Warenne requests the king to take council on the attempts of the earl of Lancaster to make Warenne's people of Bromfield and Yale attorn themselves to him by threats. He further requests letters to Lancaster ordering him to cease making threats to the people, and that further letters be sent to the justices of Wales and Chester and to the sheriffs there to be ready to defend Warenne's lands.

The petition dates to 1318 as the earl of Lancaster was ordered not to attempt anything against the king's peace in the lands on 16 June 1318, and by 1 January 1319 the earl of Lancaster received a licence to hold the lands for life (CCR 1313-18, p.554; CPR 1317-21, pp.263-4).
