The petition is a complaint against royal intrusions into the liberty of Durham and concerns a writ of the Exchequer to distrain the treasurer and barons of the [Durham] Exchequer].

- The petition is dated to 1333-1345 as the petition has been attributed to Richard de Bury whose pontificate was between these years. It is just possible that the petition could be attributed to Richard de Kellawe whose pontificate was from 1311-1316, but this seems unlikely on the basis of the hand.
