Nature of request
The petitioners request that they be discharged of recognisances made to the late earl of Arundel. Henry Nasard was indebted to the earl in 1,000 marks and made a recognizance for this, and Abingdon made an additional recognisance for the greater security, so that both recognisances amounting to 2,000 marks were made for 1,000 marks, both being void on payment. The 1,000 marks was paid, and Nasard received acquittance, but the earl refused to acquit Dabyndon until be made another recognisance in 600 marks. The late earl admitted this to the bishop of Hereford and his confessor at his death.
