Nature of request
The petitioners request that they and their ship be released from arrest. They state that they freighted their ship with wine from Bordeaux bound for Crotoy, but when they stopped at Eastbourne near Pevensey to hear news and pick up a pilot for the journey to Crotoy, they and their ship were seized by the constables for no reason.
Nature of endorsement
John de Teye appeared at the chancery and stated that he and Bernfeld arrested the people named within by virtue of letters sent to them that they were not to allow anyone to pass by sea without the special permission of the king, and also that they came out of their ship to get guidance as stated in the bill.
