Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/162/8075
Date
[? c. 1331-? c. 1334]
Description
Petitioners
Raymond (Ramon) de Batz, esquire.
Name(s)
de Batz, Raymond (Ramon)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Batz requests that he be granted suitable reward and amends for his lands and rents occupied by the people of the king of France for the previous 7 years so that he cannot enjoy them and does not have them to maintain his estate. He requests that he can have this sustenance until he recovers his lands and rents.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the seneschal and constable that they inform themselves and certify the king.
Places mentioned
Gascony, [France]
Agenais, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
[Edward II], King of England.
Note
A guard note ascribes this petition to 'Ed. II'. However, the hand, the content, and the mention of service to the late king, would seem to ascribe this petition to the aftermath of the war of St Sardos, and the mention of the petitioner's lands having been in French hands for seven years would suggest a date of c. 1331-1334. This date is confirmed by SC 8/293/14607, in which Peter de Mon Caup petitions on behalf of the petitioner.
