Honywood to Carteret: when he sent for the boatmen to dismantle the bridge, they refused, saying their men had all left them. He told them he would stop payment, and secured the pont-volant at Oppenheim. He wrote to the elector of Trier to ask him to send the pont-volant at Coblenz down to Neuwied. Prince George of Hesse then persuaded the boatmen to change their minds, so he is now confident of crossing without delay at Neuwied. The army has no money for extraordinary expenses. Dated (OS) at Wiesbaden. ff. 151, 152
