Stair to Carteret, acknowledging the order to take the whole army across the Rhine. Unhappy situation of the French. He believes the Dutch will garrison the low countries. His marching orders to the British and Hanoverians. Dated at Aix-la-Chapelle. PS. on the necessity for a train of artillery and store of munitions at Coblenz. He encloses a letter for the king from Count Calenberg, depositions from two Irish deserters [SP 87/12/8], and a petition from a captain in Pulteney's regiment. ff. 20-23
