Description (What the record is about)
-
Copy letter from the Master Shipwright Assistant and Master Mast Maker at Plymouth to Commissioner Rogers. The bowsprit was made of a stick which was new but had a few knots, one of which was decayed which was bored out and found sound. We coaked and brought on a flat solid fish on the upper side which was secured with hoops and wooldings. We were satisfied that the bowsprit was stronger than one made from a clear stick free from knots and worked without a fish.
