Files of reports and memoranda compiled by individual scientists on subjects relating to the work of the police. There is also a copy of the report of the Committee on the Prevention and Detection of Crime.
The SA/POL and SA/PM series of reports and memoranda are the same in format and appearance and both series deal with subjects relating to the work of the police. They take the form of scientific papers and are the work of individual scientists. The memoranda carry the cover endorsement: "This memorandum represents the personal views of the author. It does not carry the authority of the Home Office Scientific Adviser's Branch".
Also included in the SA/POL series is the Report of the Committee on the Prevention and Detection of Crime, which was appointed on 4 November 1960 to enquire into and report upon the organisation and procedure of the police forces of England and Wales, and provide a progress report of scientific research on police problems: HO 368/10
